1 blogspot

Six Ways To Be Happier At Work

Look for the good. For the next three weeks, every night before you go to sleep, think about three things you're grateful for. Try to make at least one of them work related, Achor suggests, which can help us to "let go of the daily hassles and notice the good things about our jobs."

Have some fun. Research shows that a little lightheartedness can help people think more clearly and creatively. Take a break now and then to share a laugh or a smile with a colleague, or just take a few minutes to do something that gives you pleasure - - whether it's viewing photos from your last vacation, watching a funny clip on YouTube, or reading a favorite blog.

Brighten your office space. Everything around you affects your frame of mind, and certain environmental cues can can help trigger creative thinking or calm reflection. Surround your desk with pictures and objects that lead you toward positive thoughts.

Keep a journal. If you find yourself worrying about bad news, a scary rumor or a stressful deadline, take three minutes to write down how you're feeling. The simple act of putting emotions into words can immediately decrease their magnitude.

Invest in people. During a stressful time, many of us tend to shut down our social networks to focus on work. Big mistake. Decades of research shows that strengthening those connections in our lives - - whether it's a family member, friend or work colleague - - leads to happiness and may even help us live longer. Start small, Achor advises, by reaching out to just one person a day.

Think of work as a series of sprints, not a marathon. Sitting at your desk too long causes your muscles to tense up and your energy to lag. What you may not notice, Achor says, is that after continuous work, your brain function actually slows as well.
